From what I have been able to tell, Goggle does not allow mail duplicates in GMail. That might be a crow-bar you can use to clean up your mail store. You would need to upload the existing mail store to an attached GMail account using IMAP. This can be laborious and time consuming. Once the mail has been placed in GMail, you could then just download it using POP.

Last week I switched from Entourage to Outlook 2011 for Mac. I set up my email as IMAP, as it had been in Entourage, but now some of my emails keep getting.

The resulting mail store 'should' be clean of duplicates. I would test this concept out with a small batch of duplicated messages first.
