Now you will also need ' GlimmerBlocker' which can be found here. (download the version fos OX 10.6 Version 1.4.16 for Safari 5 on Snow Leopard) Simply download and install 'Glimmer Blocker' which will set up a new 'Preference Pane' for you. Click on the ' Glimmer Blocker' preference pane and then select ' Filters' from the tab bar. Old versions of AdBlock used to have the ability to block the YouTube ads but quite some time ago and up till the latest version of AdBlock Ver 2.5.55, the ability to block YouTube ads has been removed (There are videos all over YouTube and on various forums with people complaining about it). All I know (and lots of others know) is the latest versions of Adblock running on an intel iMac with Snow Leopard and Safari 5.x simply doesn't block YouTube ads (Even the options have changed where the old YouTube prefs used to be in AdBlock) and adding 'Glimmer Blocker' with the simple 'Rule' as I have shown does.

So I'm just happy to be free of those ruddy annoying YouTube ads now. Course it would be a lot simpler if the author of AdBlock put the ability back into AdBlock to get rid of those YouTube ads but for whatever reasons best known to himself he wont. Then you're one of the few lucky ones, cos it simply doesn't work for most folk using it with Snow Leopard and Safari 5.x. Mind you you haven't said which version of Safari you're using or which version of OSX either.

There are plenty of videos on YouTube and comments on the internet from people for whom AdBlock simply doesn't block YouTube in video banner ads, as can be read from the comments posted on the following YouTube videos by users as just a few examples. Like I said in my original post this is for those like me whom are using Safari 5.x on Snow Leapoard and for whom the latest version of AdBlock doesn't block ads in YouTube videos. It works and for me and others, that's all that matters. 5.1.7 & 10.6.8 - using just adblock custom & easylist block lists - I'll check those links later & see if I can get some ads to show up I see the comments, sure - but lucklily, as you say - adblock alone removes them here, & back they come if it's disabled. I just tried - you see ads there, with the same subscriptions etc? If so must be what/how youtube serve up to different country servers, or maybe no ads if not signed in?
