Hi, Since I upgraded from OS X El Capitan to macOS Sierra, I am asked once or twice a day to enter the passwords for all of my internet accounts. This occurs even when Mail is not open.
Previously all of these passwords were stored in my keychain, and I would be prompted to unlock the keychain. With macOS Sierra, a message appears for each of my accounts asking me to reenter my password. When I click, 'continue' on the notice, the System Preferences opens to the Accounts panel and requests my password. After it verifies the password, the notice does not appear again for up to 8 hours, then reappears. Does anyone know why macOS Sierra keeps asking for my internet account passwords up to 3 times per day? I decided to try deleting the passwords for one email account from both keychains, and it removed the mailbox from the Accounts System Preferences.
E-mail servers rejecting passwords in OS X Mail One problem that may crop up for OS X users is e-mail servers rejecting passwords sent to them by Mail, resulting in a warning and a request to. Thing is the client keeps asking for a password every few days/week. We can't disable the 2 key He is using gmail. Not an exchange or O365 account. Should I still try that? Only this computer with outlook on mac seems to be an issue. I tried the keychain delete but it doesn't seem to do much.
So I added the account back (along with the password), and this morning was again prompted saying for the password (along with the passwords for all of my other email accounts). So deleting it from all keychains did not seem to do the trick.
I am still trying to determine why the upgrade to macOS Sierra would require this while OS X El Capitan did not. I notice that I get prompted for Gmail and Yahoo accounts, but not for Outlook or IMAP accounts. Could this potentially shed further light on the problem?

On my Mac, the keychain box is checked. I am not prompted each day for the keychain password. I am prompted on the Mac for my Gmail and Yahoo mail passwords on the Mac, but not on my IOS devices (from which I also sometimes read mail).
When I upgraded my phone to IOS 11, the prompt did appear on my Mac and iPad asking whether to allow the authentication on the phone to continue, and I did get the code to enter on the phone. The problem is that when I unlock the screen saver on my mac each morning, I have a series of notifications asking me to reenter the passwords for certain internet accounts. I notice that these are limited to my Gmail, Yahoo, and Facebook accounts while hotmail and IMAP accounts are not included each day.
I also notice there is no daily prompt for one yahoo account for which I do not sync contacts, calendars and reminders. Could the Contacts, Calendars or Reminders be causing this? The prompts occur even when Mail is not running. Apple Footer • This site contains user submitted content, comments and opinions and is for informational purposes only.
