My Passport For Mac On Tv
My Passport for Mac portable storage works straight out of the box with Mac devices which makes it easy to get going quickly -- drag and drop files to and from, or setup a backup routine with Apple's Time Machine software to help protect your photos, videos, music and documents.
June 15th, 2015 by Tucker Mindrum WD My Passport for Mac Review WD has released a seventh generation of their popular My Passport line of external hard drives. The most notable upgrades with this line are an increase in maximum capacity (3TB), customization options, improved backup capabilities, and a line of models designed specifically for use with Mac OS. This review explores the Mac models, but the other new features are detailed in the new review. This line of drives is more or less just an adaptation of the My Passport Ultra that is optimized for Mac out of the box.
Download mac apps. The regular My Passport Ultra is compatible with Mac OS after reformatting, but users that know that they will be using a Mac might find this model to be easier. It comes with 256-bit AES encryption for added security, as well as compatibility with Apple Time Machine.
Users can run diagnostics and format the My Passport with WD Drive Utilities, but other than that it is a plug and play drive that can be used to transfer and store up to 3TB of data. The USB 3.0 port powers the device, so no additional power supply is needed.
WD My Passport for Mac carries a street price of $199.99, $99.99, and $69.99 for 3TB, 2TB, and 1TB, respectively. All models carry a 3-year warranty.
Welcome to the Samsung forum on CNET! Samsung worked with CNET to create a forum where people can ask questions and talk about all Samsung products and get help with everything from HDTVs, Smart TVs, home theater components, phones, cameras to monitors and printers.

This forum is staffed by Samsung employees, but as we have seen in the past, often the most helpful answers come from CNET forum members themselves so please don't consider this just a Q and A with Samsung. This is a CNET forum and Samsung is here to be part of the conversation. I have a 1GB USB key and a 300GB WD External HD that I have been using to store and watch movies on my two samsung TV's. Both TV's have a USB media port capable of viewing Movies/Photos and music. There was no problem until after watching a movie on the USB stick, I went to my IMAC to copy a new movie to watch. The movie would not fit so I formatted the key using the IMAC disk utility (why did I format, because I did not realize that after deleting files on an IMAC, the space is not made available until after removing the items from the trash.
Live and Learn).Anyway, the was copied and it was readable on both MAC and PC but when put on the TV, the device was detected but no media was found(movie). I then tried it on my other samsung TV and same problem. I then proceeded to try other media, pictures music & movies, still not found. I then tried my External HD that worked previously on both TV's figuring that it was a format issue on the USB key, still not working.
I then tried to re-format both devices on my PC in all formats, Fat, Fat32, NTFS as well as different data block sizes, still not found on TV's. Both devices can be read and writted on both PC and MAC during these tests. I think that the initial MAC format on the USB key being attempted to play on both TV's has corrupted them.
Does this sound logical????? Well, Samsung technical support was unable to offer any troubleshooting other than a reset. Since that failed, they are sending out a repair technician from a local authorized dealer. That technician said he can only replace the main board and there are no other diagnostic capabilities so he is ordering a new main board for both my LCD and Plazma TV's.
I have never heard of such poor tech support in any big company before. If it is the board I am inclined to keep corrupting them until someone at Samsung is smart enough to verify the cause and prevent it or at least issue a warning. If they are willing to send out a tech to replace the board, then they must think it is a possibility but why not try and reproduce the issue in their lab to confirm?? Thejones10, I'm sorry to hear your displeasure, and while I don't speak on our service process, there are two possible reasons this is happening.
